All of our second grade classrooms partner with Montalvo Teaching Artists: professional artists who have extensive experience as educators in various learning environments. Rather than a one-time visitor to a class or school, Teaching Artists work closely with students and teachers for a multi-week period to design and implement lesson plans focusing on multidisciplinary creativity and transparent curiosity, all based in the arts. Providing students with an integrated context for the concepts they are mastering, teaching artists give kids the keys to academic success.
This year, all of our fifth grade classrooms will partner with Junior Achievement of Northern California. The Junior Achievement Program plays an important role in bridging the gap between our schools and the business community. Trained role models will come to our classrooms in the fall and all of our students will go to local business for a Social Innovation Camp. Junior Achievement will help our students garner the type of skills they will need to be successful in the future workforce.
